Matthew Murphy is a Hartford area trombone performer and teacher. Raised in Concord, Massachusetts, Matt took up the trombone at age 10 and has been playing ever since. He was fortunate enough to gain lots of experience performing with concert bands and orchestras, even appearing in two semi-staged opera productions during his time with the Boston Youth Symphony. He moved to Connecticut in 2017 to attend The Hartt School, where he completed his Bachelor’s of Music in Trombone Performance in 2022. At Hartt, he furthered his love for chamber music, performing with several trombone ensembles and quartets, as well as a brass trio. Matt now spends his time performing in pit orchestras at theaters around Connecticut, as well as fun gigs with a few jazz and salsa bands! Outside of music, he is a Boston sports fanatic, and he’s currently preparing to run his first marathon! Matt is excited to share his love for trombone and for classical music with the CMS community!
