Acclaimed pianist Gabriel Landstedt is a passionate and versatile artist who has performed and taught across North America and Europe. Recent performances took place at venues including Carnegie Hall, Fazioli Concert Hall, and Palau de la Música Catalana, and festival appearances have included Klavierfestival Lindlar, Chautauqua Piano Program, New Mexico Chamber Music Festival, and the Salzburg International Summer Academy. His recent accolades include the Grand Prize and Best Performance of the Commissioned Piece at the Architecture of Music Competition, the Grand Prize in the Royal Sound Music Competition, and the the bronze medal in the WPTA Finland Competition. In 2021, Landstedt established the vocal-piano ensemble Keyprano Duo with his wife, Allison Landstedt, soprano, who have performed in the United States and Canada together.
Embracing the role of a dedicated educator, Landstedt tailors his pedagogical approach to nurture a love for music in each student while fostering self-confidence and artistic expression. The core of his teaching philosophy is to cultivate artistic expression built upon disciplined technique and freedom of movement while encouraging students to explore diverse repertoire. Landstedt taught class piano and secondary piano lessons at the University of British Columbia, and he has taught master classes in Europe. Having served on the faculty of numerous private music schools, Landstedt has guided his students to achieve competition prizes and exam honors.
Landstedt graduated summa cum laude with his Bachelor of Music degree and Second Major in German from the University of New Mexico, where he studied with Falko Steinbach. He pursued additional studies at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg as a student of Silke-Thora Matthies and Markus Bellheim and at the Manhattan School of Music as a student of Arkady Aronov. He earned his Master of Music degree at the University of British Columbia as a student of Mark Anderson. Landstedt is currently pursuing his DMA degree at UBC as a recipient of the university’s premier Four Year Doctoral Fellowship.
Outside of his musical pursuits, Landstedt enjoys writing fiction and poetry. His diverse interests extend to outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, and soccer. Landstedt resides in Norwich, Connecticut, with his wife and newborn daughter, Kate.
