Violinist Brenna Cox has performed in the US and Argentina in prestigious venues such as Teatro el Circulo in Rosario Argentina, Chicago’s Fourth Presbyterian Church, and Chicago Symphony Center. A respected orchestral musician, Brenna currently holds section positions in the Opera Festival of Chicago and the Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra. She is a sub for Roanoke Symphony Orchestra and was invited as a guest assistant principle with the Shenandoah Conservatory Symphony Orchestra on their 2023 Mahler tour to Argentina. She has participated in solo masterclasses with Midori, Eric Silberger and Bradley Moore, as well as the Berlin Philharmonic Piano Quartet.
A dedicated educator, Brenna is passionate about fostering a safe and nurturing environment for creative exploration in her studio. Brenna has experience teaching all ages from 4 to adult, and has taught Suzuki group classes with up to twenty students at a time. Brenna is open to students who are seeking the traditional Suzuki method or a more adaptable approach tailored to their individual needs. Brenna has served on faculty with Merit School of Music, City Strings of Chicago, and Music and Arts of Leesburg, VA.
Brenna holds a Master of Music degree in violin performance and Suzuki Pedagogy from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University with Almita Vamos and Liba Schacht, and a Bachelor of Music degree in performance from Shenandoah University under the instruction of Akemi Takayama. She received her long-term Suzuki training in Books 1-8 with Ann Montzka-Smelser. Brenna is thrilled to be joining the wonderful faculty at Community Music School!
