Meg Gister is a dedicated and experienced musician and teacher, with an ongoing passion for teaching, learning, and performing. Inspiring young and old to step into their joy of music and self discovery, she specializes in educational music programs for children and adults alike. Teaching in private, semi-private, and public settings, she is excited to teach both individual lessons and group classes at CMS.
With a choral and instrumental background to include singing with The Los Angeles Master Chorale, touring Asia with the Roger Wagner Chorale, singing in the Los Angeles Chamber Singers with Peter Rutenberg, studying Music Therapy with Ron Borczon, and teaching general, choral, and instrumental music in the CT Region 4 public schools for 25 years, Meg brings a unique set of skills and tools to our students.
She holds music degrees in Theory from Pasadena City College, Opera performance from California State University Northridge, and a Master’s degree in the Multiple Intelligence Theories of Howard Gardner from University of Saint Joseph. She infuses joy and curiosity in her classes and teaching style, and offers students both musical skills, and personal tools to build confidence and resilience in an engaging, accessible, and transformative way.
