The Christopher J. Herrle Scholarship for Ensemble Participation

The Christopher J. Herrle Scholarship for Ensemble Participation was established through the overwhelming generosity of many members of the CMS String Ensemble and friends of Community Music School. The scholarship is not based on financial need or merit, but on having passion for making music with other people. Christopher loved singing and playing guitar, especially with other people , and was known in Philadelphia karaoke circles as an enthusiastic, crowd-pleasing performer. In his memory, the Herrle scholarship consists of two $150 awards – one each for the fall and spring semesters – to any student at CMS, child or adult, who participates in an ensemble here. There are no restrictions based on age or ability, and anyone applying for the scholarship need only write a letter describing what making music with other people means to them.
