CMS Academy Program

music theory student analyzing chordsThe CMS Academy is a pre-college program dedicated to helping prospective music school students prepare for auditions and placement exams. In addition to lesson and ensemble requirements, students take courses in music theory, ear training, piano skills, and a weekly seminar covering topics in performance, audition prep, and careers in music.

The program will be comprised of three sessions, all at CMS Centerbrook:

Wednesdays at 4pm: Piano Lab, taught by Marty Wirt
Fridays at 3pm: Career Seminar, taught by Francesco Barone
Fridays at 4pm: Music Theory, taught by Francesco Barone

Appropriate for intermediate/advanced high school students in any musical discipline. Course requirements include participation in any ensemble and weekly 60-minute private lessons on the student’s primary instrument. Admission to the program will require an audition with two contrasting pieces or etudes, as well as a scale. Non-CMS students are welcome to apply.

This program is directed by Dr. Francesco Barone. To learn more about the program and to schedule an audition, please contact us.
