Suzan Bibisi brings over 15 years of nonprofit experience in marketing, development, and management, complemented by a Master’s Certificate in Nonprofit Management from UConn.
A former journalist with a passion for storytelling, Suzan’s professional background includes covering state politics and serving as city editor at the Waterbury Republican-American, reporting on municipal government at the Manchester Journal-Inquirer, and writing about arts and entertainment at the Los Angeles Daily News.
At CMS, Suzan will advance the school’s mission by showcasing the stories of students, faculty, board members, and supporters who embody the essential role of music education in our community.
Suzan’s lifelong dedication to music began during her undergraduate years at UConn, where she served as student manager of WHUS, the university radio station. There, she hosted a weekly jazz program, featuring vinyl recordings and interviews with big-name jazz musicians to promote their local performances.
Her musical expertise expanded during her time in Los Angeles, where she developed a deep appreciation for symphonic music through the LA Philharmonic, opera via the LA Opera, and film scores presented by composers at the Hollywood Bowl. As an arts reporter, she conducted interviews with prominent figures in classical and popular music, TV and film.
Upon returning to the East Coast, Suzan continued her arts involvement by managing HartBeat Ensemble, a theater in Hartford featuring a youth internship program, where she continues to volunteer today.
Suzan resides in Old Wethersfield with her husband (a former film student), and her very vocal dog.
